Montreal rapper Emdee Wright drops booming new single ‘Kingz’

MONTREAL, CANADA – Marc-David “Emdee Wright” Amisial is a fast-rising hip-hop artist from Montreal who is the perfect blend of old-school flavor and new-school positivity. He’s the kind of artist who has left behind a difficult childhood to follow in the footsteps of his music idols, and his unique brand of storytelling and lyricism is the kind of sound that is already starting to make people sit up and pay attention.

After a few years touring as a member of Young-N-Fabulous, Emdee Wright launched his solo career with his first single, “I Wonder,” in 2016. The song has seen some major success, and was followed by “Summer to Spring” in 2017, which reached more than 100,000 views in two weeks. Now he’s ready to follow up that success with a brand-new single, called “Kingz.” According to Emdee Wright, it’s a song that’s all about having fun. It’s an anthem song that lets people know he’s here to take over the music industry, and it’s an announcement to the world that he has arrived.

“As an artist I’m trying to push myself,” Emdee Wright said. “With this song I’m telling people I’m coming for the throne. I’m from Montreal, but that’s not stopping me. I feel like people never look seriously at artists from Montreal – and in general most people think all Canadians aren’t doing it. But I’m very lyrical and my music is all about painting pictures and showing what I’m capable of doing. There’s a lot of storytelling and poetry and similes and metaphors in my lyrics. And when you couple that on a song like ‘Kingz,’ which has a very booming, hard beat, it comes out like an anthem that anyone can get behind.”

From a young age poetry served as Emdee Wright’s only outlet. His love for rap was influenced by his older brother, who inadvertently inspired him to put pen to paper at the age of 9. Despite the disapproval of his religious parents, Emdee Wright decided to pursue his passion for music. He and his friend Alex X-Quizit formed the group Young-N-Fabulous, and the R&B and pop group saw modest success over a four-year stretch. They had singles aired on Montreal radio stations, as well as radio Internet stations like Musique Plus, Much Music and BPM TV. Since launching his solo career in 2014, Emdee Wright has been able to perform at a variety of venues, and was even selected to open for Sean Kingston’s tour in Montreal.

As he continues to grow as an artist, Emdee Wright said he hopes to emulate the success of some of the legends of rap that he has always looked up to – including 2Pac, Nas, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole.

“I want people to know me as my name and for who I am,” Emdee Wright said. “I’m competitive and I’m a storyteller. I’m bringing back old-school flavor while being positive. I’m all about bringing positivity through my music. I’m not trying to be somebody else. Life is not easy. We all go through struggles, and it’s so easy to bring yourself down. Positivity is so important because it pushes you to go through those struggles. That’s the core of hip-hop, in my opinion, and that’s what my music is about. I hope to accomplish a lot with it. I want to be out there and eventually nominated for awards and performing on music shows and just having my name be a name-brand.”

Emdee Wright said “Kingz” will be followed up with an EP that’s he’s currently working on, which he hopes to drop sometime next year. To listen to Emdee Wright’s music, or to follow him on social media, please visit:
